From Marine Corps Discipline to Master Craft:
Our founder's journey into the world of permanent art began in a unique and disciplined environment: the U.S. Marine Corps. While stationed in Jacksonville, North Carolina, over three decades ago, he had the rare opportunity to learn the craft from a second-generation tattoo artist, making our founder a third-generation tattooist. This direct lineage instilled a profound respect for tradition, a dedication to precision, and an understanding that tattooing is a deeply personal and enduring commitment.
Establishing Roots in the Midwest:
Following this powerful start, the journey continued in the Midwest. For nearly 20 years, our artistry was the heart of a beloved and successful studio in Kansas City, Missouri, where thousands of stories were brought to life on skin. It was during this time that our enduring connection to the Lincoln, Nebraska community began. In the year 2000, we first established a studio presence here in Lincoln, weaving our work into the local tapestry and building a dedicated following.
Global Influence: Four Years in Brazil:
In a major period of artistic expansion and cultural exchange, our journey continued abroad. From 2015 to 2019, our founder owned and operated a successful tattoo studio in Brazil. This experience broadened our artistic perspective, exposed us to diverse techniques and styles, and enriched our commitment to creating high-quality, internationally-inspired art.
The Next Chapter:
Now in late 2025, early 2026, we are thrilled to open the doors of Five Sparrows! A new studio that represents the culmination of this entire, wide-ranging legacy.
